CHANNEL 11 TV STUDIO/COMPUTER FACILITY - CITY OF PHOENIX
Mechanical and electrical engineering services for design and construction of a 43,000 SF facility consisting of 5,700 SF Studio A and a small studio B of 840 SF. Each were designed within NC levels of 25 or less. System consisted of two 300 ton variables speed
R-123 centrifugal chiller and two towers. One chiller is for redundancy, as well as the second cooling tower. One half of the building is the computerized check writing facility for the City of Phoenix with chilled water computer room units for temperature and humidity control. The project was bid within budget in May of 2000
and construction was completed September of 2001. The uniqueness of this project is that it is to be built within an
existing seven story parking garage facility in downtown Phoenix.
KJZZ/KBAQ
Mechanical and electrical engineering services for two public radio stations operated by the Maricopa Junior College District. Facility is 19,000 SF and the mechanical and emergency electrical systems are designed to operate independently from the existing six story building mechanical system in which the facility is being placed. The activity in the radio stations are broadcast for homebound people and a special area by Sun Sound is provided to record tapes for newspapers, magazine articles and books for the blind. The mechanical and electrical systems are separate air conditioning systems with emergency power back-up for continuous broadcasting upon local power interruption. Project
was bid in September 2000 with construction completed mid 2001. Project budget is $1.4M. Construction
was completed in March 2001.
