MISCELLANEOUS PROJECTS

WESTWARD HO
Downtown's historic Westward Ho is currently being renovated to the tune of $19 Million.  An article in the Arizona Republic gave many of the details of the project such as the remodel of the abandoned Thunderbird Ballroom into 32 new one-bedroom units and the renovations of 64 existing studio units which were combined into 32 one-bedroom units within the tower.  Key upgrades to the mechanical system consisted of the addition of two 214 ton chillers with VFD controlled evaporator condenser fans and the associated two-pipe fan coil units within the tenant's rooms.  To accommodate the additional load of the chillers, the electrical system was upgraded to a 3,000 Amp (277/480V) service.

ARIZONA CANAL AT SCOTTSDALE
Currently under construction, the Arizona Canal project is part of the downtown revitalization master plan for the city of Scottsdale, Arizona.  The construction budget is approximately $4.0 million for canal bank improvements, $1.8 million for bridges, and $4.2 million for parking.  The new plazas will provide new spaces for special events and public recreational areas and the new Marshal Way Bridge will provide a critical connection from the Scottsdale Fashion Center shopping district to the Main Street gallery district for both pedestrians and the Scottsdale Trolley.  Functioning similar to San Antonio's renown River Walk, the Arizona Canal will become a focal point for dining, shopping, and entertainment.  Sullivan Designs, Inc. has provided engineering for the undergrounding of overhead power lines for Arizona Public Service and Salt River Project and for the new electrical system for the walkway lighting, grand fountains, and event power.  Special features included into the pole mounted light fixtures includes CAT 5 data ports and receptacles for street vendor applications.
